IntroductionTaekwondo is a Korean martial art and translates to the way of the hand and foot. In addition to the physical aspects of martial arts training, Kaishin also teaches self-discipline and values the moral and ethical principles of Taekwondo.

As a student of Kaishin Taekwondo I do solemnly promise that I shall
- :Respect instructors & seniors, and obey their instructions
- Never misuse Taekwondo
- Strive to be modest, courteous and respectful
- Use Taekwondo only for self-defence and defence of the weak, & never show off my knowledge of the art
- Endeavour to constantly improve myself
- Respect and obey my parents
- Respect the laws of the country
Taekwondo Guidelines
- Be willing to go where the going may be tough and do the things that are worth doing even though they are difficult
- Be gentle to the weak and tough to the strong
- Be content with what you have in money and position but never in skills
- Always finish what you begin, be it large or small
- Be a willing teacher to anyone regardless of religion, race or ideology
- Never yield to repression or threat in the pursuit of a noble cause
- Teach attitude and skill with action rather than words
- Always be yourself even though your circumstances may change
- Be the eternal teacher who teaches with the body when young, with words when old, and by moral precept even after death

10th kup - FOUR DIRECTIONAL PUNCH
An introduction to fundamental Taekwondo moves 9th kup - CHONJI Heaven and Earth 8th kup - DANGUN The legendary founder of Korea (BC2333) 7th kup - DOSAN The pseudonym of the great Korean patriot and educator Ahn Ch’ang Ho (1876-1938) 6th kup - WONHYO A noted monk who introduced Buddhism to the Silla Dynasty in 686 5th kup - YULGOK The pseudonym of Yi l (1536-1584), who was a great philosopher andscholar. He was given the nickname ‘Confucius of Korea’ 4th kup - CHOONGUN A Korean patriot who assassinated the first Japanese GovernorGeneral of Korea, Hero Bumo Ito, in 1909 3rd kup - TOIGYE The pseudonym of Yi Hwang (1501-1570), who was a noted scholar and authority on neo-Confucianism 2nd kup - HWARANG A youth group that originated in the Silla Dynasty in the early 7th century 1st kup - CHOONGMOO The name given to the great admiral Yi Soon-Sin of the Lee Dynasty. He is reputed to have built the first armoured battleship in 1592, which is said to be the precursor to the present day submarine. BLACK BELT LEVEL 1 - Kwang-Gae Kwang-Gae is named after the famous Kwang Gae Toh Wang, the 19th King of the Koguryo dynasty, who regained all the lost territories including the greater part of Manchuria. The diagram represents the expansion and recovery of the lost territory. The 39 movements refer to the first two figures of 391 AD, the year he came to the throne. BLACK BELT LEVEL 2 - Kwang-Gae BLACK BELT LEVEL 3 - Po-Eun Po-Eun is the pseudonym of the loyal subject Chong Mong-Chu (1400). He wrote a poem called - ‘I would not serve a second master thought I might be crucified a hundred times,’ which is known to every Korean. The diagram represents his unerring loyalty to his king and country towards the end of the Koryo dynasty. 1st DAN BLACK BELT - Ge-Baek Ge-Baek is named after General Ge-Baek a great general in the Baek Je Dynasty (660 AD). The pattern represents his severe and strict military discipline. |
